Blog Challenge: Day 2

2. Story of how mom and dad met

Chris and Jackie fall of 2003

Once upon a time Chris and Jackie were stationed on the USS Ashland together.Jackie was a cook working in the galley and Chris was a FSA (food service attendant) and doing his 90 days in the galley helping out. Now Chris may tell this story a bit differently but this is how I remember meeting him.... While on deployment we were doing breakouts (where we gather all the food we need for the next few days from the giant freezers and storage rooms) and we have to pass the food up and down ladderwells and down long p-ways. At one point I was at the bottom of the ladderwell and Chris was at the top, we are busy passing the food along but all of a sudden Chris is throwing paper at me (a-la kindergarten crush bullying) and teasing me about who knows what and from then on it was tons of flirting, more teasing and tons of fun. We were always out on the smoke deck talking until late at night and we even got to spend a day in Spain hanging out and holding hands and drinking a ton of sangria. When we got off deployment we moved off the ship and into an apartment with another couple Anyway, we started out a little rocky but in the end it came down to us loving eachother and being a little crazy and after only a few months of being together we got married. We didnt really tell anyone and we got married by a justice of the peace lady (she sounded like the creepy little lady from poltergeist) at the Portsmouth, VA. courthouse while we were on Christmas leave. As crazy as it all seemed then, we have now been married for 7-1/2 years and we have 2 beautiful children and I wouldnt change any little thing about it.
