Ding Dong Ditchers

I'm hooked on pinterest as most people know and I came across a cute pin. The idea was to teach the kids how to ding dong ditch (ring the doorbell and run away) with a fun twist, you leave a box of hostess ding dong.  Here is the link to the original idea And this is the story of our version. The kids were so excited and giggly as we got in the car to go to our friends houses.

Elijah did the first house. I let him sit in the front seat so he could hop out quickly. He ran to the door all hunched down and set the ding dongs on the porch, rang the door bell and ran back to the car. He got in the car and we took off down the street so we wouldn't be spotted.

We circled back around, made sure they got their ding dongs then we went to the 2nd house which was next door to the 1st house. Emily and Elijah switched seats so Em could be in front. She ran up dropped off the ding dongs, rang the bell and ran straight to the car, she got in and was yelling "GO, GO, GO!!!" We circled back around to make sure they got their treat and then we came home.

The 3rd house we ding dong ditched was our next door neighbors and Em ran to their door, went through the drill and ran back to our porch. They were so cute and hyper with giggles. It was such a cute idea and I'm glad we pulled it off.

End of the school year

These are pics from Elijah and Emily's end of the school year awards ceremonies Emily is now going to 1st Grade and Elijah will be in 2nd grade. Time really flies!
At the end of her ceremony they had the kids dancing, then the parents went to dance with their child.

Emily and her candy lei. She also got a balloon and a sunflower :)

This is a candy lei, its a big thing on the island for celebrations. My friend and I made these, 1 for her son and  1 for each of my kids.

Elijah's program was about the America's history. This is him holding a 1600 sign for their timeline. Cute!

Heavy rain in May

These pictures are from the end of May when we got a ton of rain in a very short time. The street started flooding and the neighbors all came out. The kids were in swim suits, we had boogie boards out and an inflatable boat. It was really hilarious when we had to move the kids who were in the boat when a car came down the street. All the adults would yell "CAR!!!" and the kids would all paddle to the curb. :) This all lasted for about 1.5 hours and then when the rain stopped it took about 20 min for the street to drain and all the fun ended.
This is the front yard, see the water in the grass.

Em is standing next to the car, see the boogie board under the car.

The whole neighborhood is out!

a lobster

I went to turn on the water for Emily's shower last night and this is what I found. This damn plastic lobster that we had to buy for Em at walmart (in New Hampshire) a couple of years ago. She found it on a shelf and had it with her while we were shopping then when it got scanned and she got excited we kinda just let it slide and we took it home. Just wanted to share this wierd bath toy, random picture with ya'll.

4th of July (belated post)

We had a blast on the 4th! The base had a "Freedom Festival" and it was tons of fun. There were bouncy houses and slip and slides, caribao rides, and music.  There was also yummy food, they had burgers and hot dogs, drinks, chips, cotton candy, and snow cones. There was a car and motor cycle show and the Seabees had all their giant dump trucks and tractors out for us to climb on and in.  The best part was that everything was free and a 2min drive from the house!

Sidewalk chalk paint and how I am going to keep my sanity this summer

My friend R and I decided to do a kid swap every week to break up the summer, save our sanity and to allow us to be able to run errands and get out of the house without the kids. So one day a week she will have the kids then the next week I will have the kids for the whole day, like 9am-5pm and we do arts and crafts and let the kids play and have fun. Last week she had the kids, I went to the commissary alone, the NEX (kinda like the base version of a tiny walmart) alone and cleaned house ALONE, it was nice! Today is my day with the kids and one of the activities I chose to do with them was sidewalk chalk painting. Somewhere online I saw a recipe for sidewalk chalk paint, its equal parts cornstarch and water and then you divide it into cups and mix with food coloring. Easy peasy and its pretty entertaining. The sidewalk here was already hot at 10:30am and so it made the paint dry quickly.
