19. Family's favorite icecream/ frozen treat

 

We go through alot of frozen treats with this heat and humidity, but we love ice pops. We like pretty much any flavor or brand that the commissary gets in.

18. What does mommy and/ or daddy wear to work

In our house mommy's "uniform" is a t-shirt or tank top and shorts because its hot on Guam and because Im a stay at home mom. Daddy normally wears digital cammies to work unless he has duty then he wears his peanut butter cups (if you arent Navy then you will see why they are called that when you see the picture) I dont normally have the camera waiting for Chris to get home so these are really random pictures.

I wish I could say that we love to play Candy Land or something cute and wholesome but we LOVE to play Plants vs Zombies! We have it for the PC and X-box 360 and all 4 of us get in on it.

Blog Challenge: Day 15

15. Parent's favorite T.V. shows

Chris and I like most of the same TV shows. There is only one that I can think of that he wont sit and watch with me and that is Grey's Anatomy, I love it and he only tolerates it. The one that I don't like and he does is Supernatural, I think its a teeny bit creepy. We love most of the HBO and Showtime shows though, huge fans of Dexter, True Blood, United States of Tara. Also almost anything on Animal Planet, Discovery Channel, TLC, and the History Chanel. We watch way too much TV, but at least its not rotting our brains, some of it is semi-educational.

Elijah's First T-ball Game

Last Saturday Elijah had his first ever t-ball game against the kids at Anderson Air Force Base. He had so much fun and was so worn out by the end of it. Watching 5 and 6 year olds play t-ball is a ton of fun, there are kids that hit the ball and run to 3rd instead of 1st, kids who insist on taking their batting helmet off before they run to 1st and kids who swarm the ball in the outfield once its hit and they fight over it too. But the best part is how proud they all are when they hit the ball and get to run or when they catch the ball or when they throw it where they are supposed to. Elijah is always so proud when he is running back to the dugout.  I'm so glad he's gotten to play, plus he looks so cute in his baseball pants :)

12. Nicknames or pet names within the family

There are several nicknames in our house, some of them are cute but not all of them make sense. Chris and I call eachother BABE most of the time, he sometimes calls me hoo-cha-choo-cha no idea why or where he got it from but whatever. And FYI we also go by Mom, Mama, Mommy, and Daddy.

Things we call Elijah.... poppa, and lijah (like his name without the E) booger head (Chris only). Nana calls him Elijah Bean and Ganny calls him Mijo (spanish)

Blog Challenge: Day 11

11. Family pets past or present

In the 7-1/2 years that Chris and I have been married we have had several pets.

First was George the rat bastard attack cat (yes thats his full and true name) We got him off craigslist for free from a family who claimed he was kid friendly and really nice. Well they LIED! He was the opposite.

When we moved from VA to ME we gave him away on freecycle saying that we tried and he was feral or just a devil cat. This is what he looked like....

When we moved to Maine we got Jake, a lab/ beagle mix. He was cute, sweet, great with the kids but just a dumb dog. He didnt understand that he was supposed to potty outside and not inside on the carpet or Emily's bed. We kept him for over a year and thought we were just doomed as pet owners but turns out it was the dog, his new owners have issues with him too. 

When Jake went to live with his new people we waited about a year and then got Spike, a guinea pig, he was awesome, but we thought he was lonely so we got another pig, Sugar. But Sugar was a girl and Spike was a boy and before we knew it we had a ton of little guinea pigs. We gave them allllllllll away on craigslist for free before I made my cross country voyage last summer. (thats a whole other post)

When we moved to Guam we rescued Sonny and Sandy. They are adorable and sweet and we love them. I think they are keepers. They follow me everywhere and get into things like toddler but they are still  mine ours.

Blog Challenge: Day 10

10. Family's favorite dinner recipe

The last few months our favorite meal has been meatloaf, mashed potato snowballs and corn casserole. Its really easy and fairly quick to put together.

For the meatloaf I use a packet of Mc Cormick meatloaf seasoning, and I follow the recipe on the back of the packet. Easy and yummy!

For the snowballs I use instant mashed potatoes because they tend to get thicker and its faster. Make the mashed potatoes as usual then let them sit and get thick. Using a cookie scoop (med), scoop the mashed potatoes and gently release them into the breadcrumbs, then use your fingers to completely coat the outside of the ball.  Put them on a cookie sheet, spray them lightly with cooking spray then bake at 350* for at least 10 min. You can let them get as crispy as you want. Sorry I dont have a picture of them, just trust me, they are yum!


Finally to complete the meal is this cheesy corn casserole recipe. Laurie (my mother-in-law) used this recipe when we visited them this past October and it is AWESOME! I also use this recipe for Thanksgiving, like I said, its awesome and everyone loves it. FYI, I dont use onions like the recipe calls for...eww!

6. Family's favorite movie to watch together


Emily's choice lately 10 times out of 10 is Tangled, she knows all the words, and songs and loves it!

Elijah's choice would most likely be any of the 3 Spiderman movies since the 3 dvds pretty much stay in his room so he can watch them whenever.

As a family we have watched and enjoyed How to train your dragon, and Despicable Me and Rango also. We like to watch alot of movies, kid movies, action movies, anything really :)
